The inspiration for Red Cap was born during a transformative ten-year spiritual journey that led us across continents, traditions, and teachings. Along the way, we were humbled to learn from sacred plant teachers such as Ayahuasca, Wachuma, and Peyote, and to receive guidance from revered elders of the Yawanawa, Huni Kuin, and Ashaninka peoples of the Amazon; the Kogi of Colombia; and Mayan and Wixárika lineages in Mexico.
Our journey included participating in philanthropic efforts to protect the Amazon rainforest in Brazil and Colombia, as well as a deep immersion in Ayurvedic medicine within the sacred temples of Kerala, India. Closer to home, we’ve been honored to sit with wisdom keepers from the Navajo and Lakota nations.
We offer our deepest gratitude to all of our teachers—human and more-than-human.
Red Cap was conceived as a bridge between worlds: a synthesis of ancestral knowledge from Amazonian, Ayurvedic, and Taoist traditions, woven together with emerging scientific inquiry and the spirit of conscious ceremony.
WHO WE ARE
Red Cap is a holistic wellness and education company dedicated to exploring the ceremonial essence of Amanita mushrooms and other sacred plants. We craft symbolic tools and artifacts inspired by ancestral traditions and provide educational resources to support personal ritual, reflection, and spiritual growth. Our work emphasizes mindful handling, cultural context, and respectful engagement—not ingestion or health claims.
Regulatory Context:
In December 2024, the FDA made it clear that Amanita muscaria and its psychoactive constituents (muscimol, ibotenic acid, muscarine) are unapproved as food ingredients and do not meet safety standards for consumption
